Winter weddings and wedding ring timelines, what you need to know
If you're getting married this winter, this one's for you. Wedding ring timelines are a little different to other commissions, and the Christmas and New Year industry closure means there are some important dates you need to have on your radar right now.
Let me break it down clearly so there are no last minute panics.
Why are wedding ring timelines different?
Bespoke wedding rings take four weeks (without stones) to make from the date your deposit payment clears. Simple enough. But here's the thing the jewellery industry closes between Christmas and New Year. That means I can't order metal, send pieces for hallmarking, or move anything through the supply chain during that window. It's an industry-wide closure, not just me, and it affects every maker working in precious metals.
So if your wedding falls either side of that closure, the timeline needs to account for it.
The important dates
Getting married between 19th December 2026 and 10th January 2027? Your deposit needs to be paid by 21st November 2026.
Getting married between 11th January and 31st January 2027?Your deposit needs to be paid by 12th December 2026.
These aren't soft suggestions, they're the dates that make it possible for me to get your rings to you in time, made properly, without rushing the work.
What if you've missed those dates?
There are express options available, but these come at an additional cost. If you think you might be cutting it fine, the best thing to do is get in touch as soon as possible and we can talk through what's realistic and what it would involve.
I'd always rather have an honest conversation early than let you down later.
