It started with one of the best gifts I’ve ever been given. A disco ball, right when I needed it most. Made of broken, cut-up mirrors, yet somehow its beauty fills a room with joy and light.

I realised… that’s what life does too. The hard moments, the ones that feel like they’ve splintered us, don’t actually take away our shine, they just shape how we reflect the world back.

So there I was at @wildernesshq trousers from a car boot sale, top from Vinted, dancing under the sun. And in that moment, I wasn’t just wearing the disco ball. I was the disco ball. The universe had clearly been planning this one. ✨

I realised… that’s what life does too. The hard moments, the ones that feel like they’ve splintered us, don’t actually take away our shine, they just shape how we reflect the world back.

From the quiet pages of my sketchbook to digital interpretations through AI, these ring designs are a gentle conversation between ancient craft and modern possibility.

Rooted in the philosophy of Wabi Sabi, each idea begins by hand, with a pencil on paper. These are glimpses of what could be: not mass-produced, not held in stock, but created with intention and only when called into being.

As an eco-conscious jeweller, I choose rarely to hold stock because I believe our most precious materials, gold, gemstones, the energy of making should never sit idly waiting. Instead, they’re reserved for when a piece is truly wanted, ready to become something meaningful.

Using AI allows me to share how a piece might look before it’s ever made, offering inspiration without waste. But I’m also deeply aware that digital tools, too, carry an environmental footprint. This is something I’ve reflected on carefully, and I’ll be sharing more about how I’m navigating this balance, with honesty and care.

I always feel so grateful to step into this season with purpose and curiosity, ready for whatever beautiful commissions and connections lie ahead.

This season is stretching me, in all the best and most challenging ways.

I’ve been deep in it: growing my business from the inside out, facing my edges, almost a quarter of the way into and learning through a business course that’s asking me to think bigger, and reshaping what I want this next chapter to look like, not just for Rebekah Ann Jewellery, but for myself too.

Until at least next spring, I’m tending to roots, trusting the process, and allowing space for something more aligned to take shape. Which means I’m saying no to more things in my private life to be able to say yes more in the future. And that feels powerful.

It’s not about being absent, it’s about being present where it matters most, and that right now is deep within my business, for myself. This is my living, my support. I’m remembering how far I have come, looking at everything with fresh eyes but reminding myself how much grit I have got! And how much room for growth there still is.

✨ AI & Me — A Creative Collaboration I Didn’t See Coming ✨

This weekend, I tried something new.
I took a few of my rough jewellery sketches, just pencil ideas and used AI to visualise them in 18ct gold with diamonds.

The result? Honestly… I’m still processing.
It’s filled me with excitement and questions. As a traditional goldsmith, my work is made by hand, guided by feel and intuition. But suddenly, this gave me a way to show you what I see in my mind, before I ever pick up a tool.

I’ve never used renderings or digital previews in my process for my own business, preferring to work from my minds eye but It’s got me thinking: could this help me grow Rebekah Ann Jewellery in new ways?

When I shared the AI images on my Stories (clearly marked with “Rebekah Ann & AI”), the response was surprisingly positive. People engaged, DM’d with favourites, and saw something they loved. It helped bring the piece to life.

And of course, as someone committed to sustainability, I’ve been looking into the environmental impact too, because every tool we use leaves a footprint, even digital ones.

There’s something magical about making jewellery from this space of lightness and movement - it weaves itself into each piece. That positive energy flows through my hands, into the metal, into the design… and eventually, into your story. It’s not just jewellery - it’s joy, intention, and a spark of something special you carry with you.

I personally don’t like listening to the radio while I work, I avoid the news when creating such special items. Music, fully of joy, that lifts me up is how I like to create.

Lately I’ve had this growing, aching urge — to move, to walk, to put on my walking boots or to dance barefoot on the earth, to climb to the top of a hill in the middle of nowhere and just… scream. Not from anger, but from a place of release. Of needing to let go.

I mentioned it to a friend this weekend, and now we’re planning it — a hike out onto the Downs, to find that perfect place beneath the sky where I can meet myself in sound.

There’s a lot shifting in me right now. A shedding. A discovering. A soft retreat, not to run away but to listen more closely. To understand myself beneath the noise. To connect with my body in ways I never truly have and reconnect with what I had forgotten. I thought I had my voice — and in many ways I did — but now I’m uncovering a deeper one, the kind that lives in the bones, the belly, the soul. The kind you have to scream for to set free.

Separation is nothing like I imagined it would be. I’ve known heartbreak before, but this is different. This is the unwinding of a life-long vision, a promise, a person. Chris was my person. And suddenly, he’s not. That truth is sharp and strange. I feel lost and liberated, exhausted and exhilarated — all at once.

And yet, even in the ache, there’s grace. There’s growth. There’s the steady hand of my incredible friends, who seem to know exactly what I need even when I don’t have the words. I’m learning how to ask. How to be seen in the mess. How to give myself space.

And somehow — amidst it all — I can feel how my business, is part of this too. Choosing to go fully self-employed was a decision to follow my voice, my instincts, my truth. It was a calling to craft with intention, to create from the heart. And now, as everything in my life reshapes, I see how even the hard moments are still part of that same thread — one of self-discovery, connection, and conscious creation.

So yes, soon I’ll be out on a hill, screaming into the wind — not out of rage, but out of reverence. Out of release. Out of love for this messy, beautiful becoming. Because finding your voice sometimes starts in the silence… and sometimes it starts in a scream.

I was diagnosed young—lots of extra reading classes, spelling support, sessions with specialists. It felt like a big deal at the time… and then, suddenly, it wasn’t. I got to secondary school, and just like that, all the support vanished. No explanation, no transition. It was as if my dyslexia had simply been outgrown. Spoiler: it hadn’t.

I muddled through, like so many do. I kept quiet, kept my head down, and just got on with it. That’s what I thought you were supposed to do.

But inside, I carried so much shame.
A substitute teacher humiliated me once and that stuck. It planted a fear of public speaking that still lingers. It’s not just nerves—it’s the way my brain plays tricks on my mouth. I hear the words clearly in my head… but when I try to say them, they don’t come out right. My tongue gets tangled. And names? They vanish before they land.

Group chats are another one—I can’t type fast enough to keep up, and by the time I’ve spelled things out (with lots of second-guessing), the conversation’s moved on. I always say, “In my head, I sound much more intelligent… and funnier too!” But the translation doesn’t always make it out in time.

Recently, though, I’ve been playing around with how I say things—speaking from the back of my mouth instead of the front. It’s small, strange, but oddly helpful. A reminder that I’m still learning about my brain every day.

And here’s the part I still don’t understand: why didn’t anyone question why the support stopped? Why didn’t I question it? Maybe that’s why I question everything now.

A moment of pause on the pebbles, the sound of waves smoothing everything out, grounding you in the present.

This season brings a sense of renewal, a fresh wave of inspiration. Longer days mean more light in the studio, more walks to clear my mind, more of those in-between moments that make life feel rich. The past 18 months have been a time of deep change—a shedding, a breaking down, a letting go. At times, I have felt completely lost. I have been deeply, deeply scared. And yet, through all of it, I’ve come to realise something: I am not lost. I am only just beginning to discover the full me.

For so long, I lived for others, shaped myself to fit their expectations, adapted so that I could be accepted. I thought that if I showed up fully as myself, people might not like what they saw. And so, without even realising it, I became their version of me.

But now? Now, I see how much I was still holding onto, how much of myself I had hidden away. And while this journey feels uncertain—at times even disorienting—it is not a losing of myself. It is a coming home.

Even the simple things feel unfamiliar. I put on clothes and they don’t feel like me. I catch my reflection, and instead of feeling seen, I feel confused. Sometimes, I glimpse my mother staring back at me, and that brings its own wave of emotion.

But within this unraveling, there is also creation. There is discovery. Just as I am exploring who I truly am, I am also exploring what I create. My jewellery has always been deeply personal—woven with stories, with meaning, with a reflection of where I am. And now, as I step more fully into myself, I know my work will too.

The ring in this video was so special to make. I can’t quite put into words how much it has helped me over these past few weeks. It has become a quiet companion in this chapter of my life, a tangible reminder of resilience, change, and the beauty in transformation. It will forever hold a special place in my heart.

The past 18 months have been a time of deep change—a shedding, a breaking down, a letting go. At times, I have felt completely lost. I have been deeply, deeply scared. And yet, through all of it, I’ve come to realise something: I am not lost. I am only just beginning to discover the full me.

For so long, I lived for others, shaped myself to fit their expectations, adapted so that I could be accepted. I thought that if I showed up fully as myself, people might not like what they saw. And so, without even realising it, I became their version of me.

But now? Now, I see how much I was still holding onto, how much of myself I had hidden away. And while this journey feels uncertain—at times even disorienting—it is not a losing of myself. It is a coming home.

Even the simple things feel unfamiliar. I put on clothes and they don’t feel like me. I catch my reflection, and instead of feeling seen, I feel confused. Sometimes, I glimpse my mother staring back at me, and that brings its own wave of emotion.

But within this unraveling, there is also creation. There is discovery. Just as I am exploring who I truly am, I am also exploring what I create. My jewellery has always been deeply personal—woven with stories, with meaning, with a reflection of where I am. And now, as I step more fully into myself, I know my work will too.

The ring in this video was so special to make. I can’t quite put into words how much it has helped me over these past few weeks. It has become a quiet companion in this chapter of my life, a tangible reminder of resilience, change, and the beauty in transformation. It will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I clocked 73,000 steps in just two days, wandering from Arthur’s Seat to the Water of Leith, tracing Edinburgh’s history through its cobbled streets, and soaking in the city’s energy. I explored by foot, then hopped on a tour bus to catch up on what I’d missed.

From A full Scottish breakfast one morning, to Guinness cake the next (because, why not?), coffee at dawn, and an alcohol-free Guinness in the Grassmarket. I picnicked in two parks, visited two museums, wandered through Dean Village, climbed Calton Hill, and walked the elegant Royal Terrace. Old Town, New Town, and Rose Street, where a crofter’s pie warmed me up—it’s impossible to list it all!

I make few plans when I travel solo. I don’t pick up a map and I just wonder.

Not every moment was perfect (remind me to book a spa hotel next time, not a hostel with an angry man), but even that was an experience. One that reminded me—I’ve got this. I can navigate whatever comes next. Just like in my craft, where each imperfection is part of the story, every challenge shapes me into something stronger, more refined.

I barely took any photos—I wanted to be fully present, submerged in the moment. And I think that’s exactly what I needed.

Opening up about my journey to becoming a jeweller feels like unlocking a cherished chapter of my life.

Believe it or not, my path was originally paved with aspirations of delivering new life as a midwife. From my GCSEs, to college course, to landing a full-time position as a maternity care assistant in a smaller Oxford hospital, I was set on making my dream a reality. The promise of a midwifery training scheme after a year of dedicated work was like a beacon of hope. Then deep down, a stirring feeling emerged, whispering that I wasn’t following my own heart.

It took a while for me to admit it to myself—I was living out my mother’s unrealised dream, not my own. Battling feelings of failure and uncertainty, I soldiered on, until one day, a small incident shattered my resolve. A breakdown at work became the turning point, leading me to confront my true desires.

Grateful for the experience and the precious moments spent on the delivery suite, I embarked on a journey of finding me! Enter the world of office jobs—a necessary step toward funding my longing for travel. Despite the drudgery, I absorbed invaluable lessons in business dynamics and perseverance.

Then, serendipity struck when my then partner and his father suggested finding a hobby for myself, led me to discover the world of jewellery making—a passion that unexpectedly changed my life’s trajectory. While my heart still yearns for travel, I’ve come to embrace the transformative power of crafting jewellery. Each piece I create carries a piece of my soul, igniting the same excitement as if it were my first endeavor.

So, while my journey may have veered from its initial course, I’m eternally grateful for stumbling upon this path over 21 years ago. Jewellery has not only become my livelihood but has woven itself into the very fabric of my existence—a journey I cherish deeply. And when we meet, know that my excitement is genuine, as each creation feels like a a new beginning.
